What is the difference between each program?
At Grandparents and Grandkids we have two distinct programs, "Grandparents and Grandkids" and "Great Grandparents and Great Grandkids."
Within the Grandparents and Grandkids program, an adult over the age of 50 visit with a child under the age of 18.
Within the Great Grandparents and Great Grandkids program, those 13+ visit with the elderly.
What is the minimum age to become a Grandparent?
To become a Grandparent, the minimum age is 50.
Is there a minimum age for Great Grandparents to be enrolled in the program?
We ask that Great Grandparents are at least 50 years old.
What is the minimum age for a Grandkid to be enrolled in the program?
We request that Grandkids entering into the program be at least five, but no older than 18 years of age.
Is there a minimum age to be a Great Grandkid?
We ask that Great Grandkids be at least 13 years of age and be willing to make a one year, once a week commitment to their Great Grandparent.
What can I do with my Grandkid?
What you do with your Grandkid is between you, the grandkid, and the parent. We are always here to provide support and suggestions!
How do you match up Grandparents and Grandkids?
The matching process is very detailed and many factors are taken into account. After we make our initial match, both will meet for the first time with one of our representatives, who will determine if the proper match has been made. From that point it is all about forming a bond!
Why do I need to enter my Social Security Number?
As a safety measure, we require all of our volunteers 18 and older to pass a background check.
How much time do I need to spend with my Grandkid or Great Grandparent?
All that we recommend is that you meet at least once a week for a minimum of one hour.
How can I make a donation?
Donations can be made by mail or via our secure online donation page.
How much money do I need to spend on my Grandkid or Great Grandparent?
There is no requirement to spend money, but if you decide to, we ask that you do not spend too much. The purpose of the program is to act as a mentor and friend.
